WISHFUL
Saturday 19th June 9.15 - 10.30
Make a Wish and see the Earth Giant’s garden come to life on the beautiful Victoria Park Lake. Wishful, a midsummer celebratory event, brings the day out at Paradise Gardens to a close with extraordinary fountains of light and fire on water. This extravaganza is created by London’s own Emergency Exit Arts, the leading light for 30 years in the creation of participatory outdoor performances. The audience is invited to follow the Earth Giant to the water side to take part in the personal and collective ritual of making wishes and promises.

During this waterborne performance hand made illuminated wishing lanterns will carry people’s pledges to honour and respect the planet across the water. Then the Giant’s Garden of Paradise will be brought to life to honour a magnificent visitor from the Moon.

This performance is created in collaboration with Tangled Feet, an ensemble of theatre practitioners committed to making original work through physical improvisation.

Over the last few weeks hundreds of local school children have been making their wishing lanterns to float on the lake and you can also take part in this event. To make your own lantern come to the Paradise Gardens and visit the Earth Giant’s Potting Shed in Victoria Park. See map »
